Artemisia annua has a long tradition in Chinese herbal medicine. Its modern scientific significance is primarily connected with the discovery of artemisinin.
A controversial international discussion later developed around the use of the whole plant. Issues of development cooperation, local plant production, regulation, and modern pharmacology intersect here. In the video, I described this debate in deliberately stark terms as “David versus Goliath.” That was my perspective at the time—and precisely for that reason, I am leaving the video as it is.
What we actually do here remains unaffected by this: We grow our plants and enjoy the beautiful Canarian weather. (:
